Another great KCOJ wine tasting

The Kiwanis Club of Jackson will host another great wine tasting Thursday April 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the View Restaurant, located at Eagle Ridge Country Club in Lakewood.
The cost is $50 per person and features over 90 different wines to taste. There will be carving and pasta stations along with fruit, cheese and bread.
We will also host a silent auction.
Tickets can be purchased at Plaza Wines & Liquors at the Jackson Plaza on County Line Road or from any member of the club. Call (732) 367-1199 for more information.
Proceeds from the event will support our high school scholarships and the purchase of special chairs for Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.

The Kiwanis Club of Jackson just celebrated its 25th birthday. We organized February 7, 1991 and since then we have raised funds for scholarships, we have sponsored youth programs, worked with other local community service groups and donated $200,000.00 to eliminate Iodine deficiency disorders and neonatal tetanus, and co-fund the expansion of Children’s Specialized Hospital.

We have presented nearly 100 scholarships to graduating Jackson high school seniors and dozens to other students in the state.

We have sponsored four Key Clubs, which are service clubs for high school students that are a vital part of our Kiwanis family. We also sponsor two Builders Clubs for middle school students.

We have worked with other community groups like The Rotary Club, The Jackson Food Pantry with the Jackson Women of Today, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Jackson PBA, The Handicapped Commission, the Fossils, the Ocean County Library, and Habitat for Humanity.

Our activities have included our annual Breakfast with Santa, our annual Police Officer of the Year dinner, helping the homeless, highway cleanup, cleanup of the Holmanville Church cemetery, health fairs, bike rodeos, and we hosted several community dinners.

Our favorite activity, though, is cooking for other groups like Sandy Relief, Chariot Riders, the annual PBA picnic, National Night Out Against Crime, the homeless, the Jackson and Lakewood branches of the Ocean County Library, and the Black Cowboys Association.

We have also made an impact on the world in large and small ways. We have donated farm animals to impoverished people. We have donated to put a smile on children’s faces.

The Kiwanis Club of Jackson aims to “improve the world one child, one community at a time.”
